Citizen Welkins Crowned ‘Best Music Video of the Year’ at the Ghana Music Awards South Africa.

Ghanaian Singer, Rapper and Songwriter Citizen Welkins has bagged an award for his ‘My Baby’ music video directed by Kofi Awuah II over the weekend.

The Peace Makers Gang (PMG Music) signee went against contenders like King Promise (CCTV), Strongman Burner (BABY GIRL), Quata Budukusu (Ginger), Fanly (Live Wire), Shatta Wale (Gringo), Mantse Ay (Nyame Watse), Citizen Welkins (My Baby), Kay Dizzle (Murder),  Ypee (Meye Guy Rmx).

He was also nominated for the Most Promising at which he lost to Maccasio.

While in Senior High School he started writing songs. He ventured into acting soon after High School and also got the motivation to continue pursuing music touring with Tinny, Ara B and Jupitar amongst other top and underground musicians he supports.

When he decided to pursue music fulltime in 2014, he started recording songs amongst the released banger One Shoe One Shirt featuring Pope Skinny, that hit him to the lime light. Again In 2015, He then came back with a breakthrough huge hit record Sumomo featuring legendary  Tinny ,whom he got inspiration and given platform to show his talents.

He had successful collaboration with other artists and also performed alongside top artists like Pope Skinny, Tinny, Jupitar, Yaa Pono, Ara-B, WondaBoy and others on bigger stages including YFM Area Code, X Concept, Homowo Festival Concerts, Tour Concert, Island Rave & 4Syte Summer Pool Jam and many more.

His current single banger Confirm is an example to the effect that one can rise from “Nothing to Something” is also receiving a positive response from the fans and general public with massive airplay in Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa and spreading across the world.

He is currently working on the video for the reggae dancehall inspired riddim banger single Jah Lead, And preparing to release his first  album Debut   (THE REV) ,The Results Of Endless Vision Which got lots of Top Great Super Stars Featured On.

2018 Edition Of S-Concert Officially Launched

S-CONCERT, Ghanaian top-notch annual musical concert which gives the humble opportunities to underground, fast-rising, and mainstream artists to showcase their talents to the nation and the world is here again.

Today November 16 marked the official launch of the 2018 S-Concert which happened at the Starr FM studios in Accra.

At the official launch, it saw many wells celebrated personalities trip in to join the launch.

Ghanaian dancehall artist Jupitar who was the first artist to be called for the concert was at the studios as well as he has been on a worldwide tour for some months now.

Media personals from GHONETV, Live FM, KubiLive, BrownGH, GHMusicHype, PromosGH, AugustLiveGH and more were also there.

Also today at the Starr FM studios, radio presenter Caleb Giovanni announced the confirmed artist who will be on the bill as its listed below.

The S-Concert started from the Oxford Street on December 13th, 2014 in Osu as it was later moved to the Ohene Gyan Sports Stadium to be able to contain the much crowd that graces the show yearly.

The S-Concert has been slated for December 7th, 2018 at the Ohene Gyan Sports Stadium.

Rapper Lil Jon Opens His Second School In Ghana

Grammy award-winning DJ/producer/rapper, Lil Jon is turning up his education initiatives as he opens his second school in Ghana just a year after the first one.

The DJ/Rapper in realizing this dream collaborated with a charity organization named Pencils For Promises to launch his second project, the Mafi Atitekpo DA Primary School, which is located at Mafi Atitekpo – Ghana, the school currently enrolls 313 students as at the time we filed this report.

“Last year [October of 2017] I came with my family to open up my first Pencils of Promise school in Ghana, now it has over 300 kids already enrolled. This is incredible,” Lil Jon added. “It’s been really fulfilling to see the impact these schools have made on so many of these children and families’ futures.” shared by Lil John.

Lil Jon has so far donated $70,000 to help the organization erect the two schools to honor his late mother Carrie M. Smith. 

The first school Abomayaw D.A. Kindergarten was launched in October 2017 and just a little over a year, here we are, his second school being launched. 

Pencils of Promise CEO Tanya Ramos during the address at the opening said.

”Lil Jon is one of our most loyal and passionate celebrity supporters, from his work in the field to donating on his birthday to make two schools a reality, he continues to impact educational needs for those in rural communities,”

The CEO rounded up saying with immense gratitude,

”We are thrilled to open the Mafi Atitekpo DA school with Lil Jon and can’t wait to see his impact in action.”

Keche’s ”Akoma” Song Is Not Profane – Willie Roi

Music duo Keche inching to the yuletide dropped a banger which featured Medickal titled ”Akoma” but unfortunately has been met with some backlash as some label the song as profane but Willie Roi thinks otherwise.

Member of the Ghana Association of Songwriters who doubles as Zylofon music repertoire for music management and artists who comes with vast knowledge and insight into music shared his thought on the song.

Over the weekend, Rainbow radio hosted Willie and in the course of their conversation, the “Akoma” song was played to him and his opinion soughted on if or not the song is profane. Willie, who nodded and jammed to the groove was quick to say in response, “It’s not a profane song, what’s profane about it”, He quizzed, “its suggestive” he went on to say.

Outspoken Willie Roi who is a panelist explaining further what is and what is not a profane song said. “A profane song is an explicit song which is X rated, the writer doesn’t apply wisdom in writing, and they just say things plainly as they are but suggestive songs are not profane songs.” He ended.

Keche, a Ghanaian music group under the GB Recordz label was noted in the past for hit songs like “Pressure”, “Aluguntugui”, “Diabeties”, “Sorkode”, “Next Level” among others and now adds on their new single which featured Medikal and titled, “Akoma”.

The new song is stirring the controversies just fine and receiving airplay. Get ready as an audio visual of the song will soon be released.
