Get To Know Rapper G Ranks aka The Bully



Born Gilbert Owusu Sekyere, popularly known as G Ranks or “The Bully”, because of his enigmatic and idyllic prowess of hip hop lyrics is a multi talented young man who does not only music but also an academic scholar and a poet.

G Ranks who is currently based in Germany started doing music in his room where he built a small home studio and recorded a lot of mixtapes which included “Rise Of A New Breed”, “Spot Me In The Dark”, “Broken Silence” and “Begining of The End”; This explains why he is one of the prolific artists to ever come out of Kumasi “Oseikrom” and is touted as the biggest new act to look out for coming from the Ashanti Region .

His first ever professional studio recorded song was “Holla Back” which was recorded by one of Kumasi most talented sound engineers at the time “Laxio Beats” in 2007 which gave the rapper some attention in Kumasi and it’s surbubs at that time.

In 2012, G Ranks released “Ohemaa” which was recorded by one of the most famous music producers in Kumasi, “Prinx Pappi”. “Ohemaa” gave him massive attention in the city followed by one of the dopest Hip hop tape “Baobab City” which finally gave him a firm ground in the Hip Hop world in Kumasi and brought him some admiration from hiphop lovers in Accra and other regions of Ghana.

G Ranks who is currently signed to Rolex Vision Management, an event and artist management company based in Switzerland and South Africa owned by experience Ghanaian music and creative enterpreneur WANGYIMS is working on many projects and is preparing for several shows all across Europe, the United States, Western, central and Southern Africa.

If the glory days of music prowess from Kumasi the land of gold is going to be revived many music enthusiast and experts believe it shall be on the back of G Ranks and further put to rest the rhetoric of Shatta Wale’s hype man Asuoden Pop skinny notion of he going to revive hip hop in Ghana.

Up-Close with Artiste Manager, HB Sedem



Known to be a prominent figure in the entertainment circles, especially in the garden city (Kumasi), Hayford Benjamin Sedem, widely known in the entertainment circles as HB Sedem is a stalwart in Artiste Management, Artistes and Repertoire (A&R), Music Distribution and Promotion Expertise. He’s also a freelance radio pundit and song writer.

It’s not by a strange phenomenon that HB Sedem took all these positions upon himself, as he grew up in a musical family. His father is a drummer and former member of a musical band in the 80s. He currently plays at church every Sunday and owns a huge catalogue of music from all over the world. His mother was a chorister whilst growing up,

The influence built up in him, hence in Junior High School (JHS, then JSS) he got inspired by a mate named Collins to form a musical group called Zigma F. The duo would buy every album released at the time and listen to them together. One day Collins suggested to Sedem to write their own songs. Thence he wrote bars mostly inspired by Twista and Busta Rhymes. In high school, he developed his own style of blending Dancehall and Tongue-twisting rap.

After graduating from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), he stopped actively doing music. Currently, Sedem runs a start-up music label called YB Click, with 5 signed artistes. He frequently contributes on radio programs about entertainment. He’s also a go-to consultant on music making and promotion in Kumasi.

Throughout his involvement in the entertainment circles, he has influenced and mentored almost all the rappers in Kumasi. He happens to be a co-founder of the Hood Cyphaz series that aims to unearth good rappers in Kumasi, and its various suburbs.

Upon all these, HB Sedem doubles up as a Chemist and Technical Analyst for Diversey West Africa, Ghana. The mastermind continues to better his craft and aims to be the best at all his roles.

Get To Know More About Akhan Of Ruff n Smooth.



Clement Foh Baah, born (February 1983) is a Ghanaian musician and songwriter known as Ahkan. He is a member of the music group Ruff n Smooth with Ricky Nana Agyemang (aka Bullet), manager of Dancehall act Ebony Reigns.
Ahkan is the third of six children. He was born and raised in Accra to his mother Felicia Nyantaktiwaah. Ahkan started singing as a teenager while studying at Asamankese Methodist. His high school certificate was gained from O’Reilly Senior High School in Accra. Ahkan continued to study at Takoradi Polytechnic in Commercial Arts. There he began writing songs for other artists.

Ahkan had passion for music at an early age but no established record label was there to support him.

Osrane was discovered in 2001 with singles including Ohi Niwa and Suro Nipa. In early 2005, he had a breakthrough song dubbed ‘Eye Asem’ (Your Wife & Your Mother song produced by Morris Babyface. Osrane then met Bullet to form a group. That was the beggiging of Ruff N Smooth where Etuoaboba took the name Bullet (Ruff) and Osrane as Ahkan (Smooth). They released their first single, Medi Wo Dwa which was remixed by the late Ebony Reigns as Hustle. Following “Medi Wo Dwa”, they also released “Monalisa”. Their third single “Swagger” became their first international hit. Ruff N Smooth then became a household name. They performed on almost all the continents.

June 2017, Ahkan announced release of “Barawo”. The term Barawo literally means thief talks about thievery. Another single “Amina” talks about the barriers in inter-marriage in the world, especially Africa. Currently “Amina” is among the most popular songs in Ghana.

Ahkan has worked with a lot of artists including Bay C of T.O.K fame, the African dancehall king Shatta Wale, Asumadu and Wizboy. Recently he was featured on a release by Duke, former member of D2.
